We drove all the way down to Page, AZ on Thursday. Unfortunately, we left about 4 in the afternoon, so it was a VERY long drive, VERY late at night. Now, on reading this blog, you might think "Oh, the Jensen family must be sooooo much fun to hang out with. I bet they are never boring and that if they were stuck in a car together for almost ten hours that it would be the biggest riot of the century. "
Boy, do I have you fooled.
Yep, this is how exciting we are. And just in case you didn't believe me, REALLY, this is how exciting we are. Actually, we are pretty fun, we just need to have our down time so that we can channel the awesome. Have I ever mentioned that we have a family cheer? We do. It's awesome. However, I will not share, because it is too precious to cast before those who may not fully appreciate it.
This was Kandice's first trip to Lake Powell. For a boating family, you might look at us in surprise at this revelation. If you were to know the intimate details of our last Lake Powell Adventure, you would understand. Suffice it to say, our last adventure involved a two year old Karlee locking herself in a hotel bathroom with the bathtub running while eleven year old Kristen lost the last ten dollars of the family because she HAD TO HAVE an icecream treat and then purchased one for each member of the family, then continued to exchange her icecream treat until the ten dollars in change magically disappeared behind the register with the cashier. Oh, and Katelyn was sick that trip--heat stroke and sunblock in her eyes. I had a fairly enjoyable time if I must say so myself.
But, again, I'm off track. We had a lot of fun on the banana thingie, Kristen's got some great pictures of us falling off it. Best Line of the Trip: as all of us but Katelyn had faced a tragic demise at the hands of an approaching storm "As I was falling off, my last thought was to YANK KATELYN OFF TOO! But she wouldn't come!" (said by Kristen, Karlee, Kelcie, and Kandice).
All day long, we played on the boat, riding towards the illustrious "Rainbow Bridge." Our plan was to play all the way there, then ride past it and drive home. However, looming clouds before us eventually caused us to turn around. We THOUGHT we were going to outrun the storm and get off the the water shortly before the waves would toss our boat around like a badmitton game.
Our great plan would soon be foiled by Mother Nature who had different plans. This video doesn't even do the storm justice, however, if you can tell we were all crammed at the floor of the boat because my dad was afraid one of us would fly out the back. Katelyn almost did--actually, it was really only due to Rob's heroic foot grabbing that she safely landed back in the boat. Kandice went flying a couple of times. Everyone clung to Karlee because we were scared that she doesn't know how to swim.
Again, none of these pictures even do it justice, but it was bad.
Bad enough for us to take a video! There is a point where we all laugh as my dad takes a large wave to the side of his head--just so you can laugh along with us. Now that we're alive.
Then we realized that our video was fruitless if we died, because the camera would have been wet. Oh well, makes for a funny video now :)
You guys are so awesome!!! I love hearing all of your fun stories.
